I’ve just finish reading this novel yesterday. I know, I took too long to finish this one, because for some reason I only “feel” to read the book when I’m in the train and while waiting for hubby to pick me up after work. Time lain tak berape nak feel pulak. Mase g Penang tu pun, kejap je sebenarnye aku bace sebab obviously most of the time I’m busy with my camera. But at last, after one month, I’m done reading it.
My verdict is: It’s sooooooo much, very very different from the movie. It’s like almost totally different from the movie, the story line is a tiny bit the same (that Andrea was hired as second assistant for Miranda Priestly and she don’t know who Miranda is and she’s poor at dressing) but most of it is different. Like in the book Andrea did not live with her boyfriend but she first stay with two Indian girls then she move in with her bestfriend Lily, and in the book Lily does not work at art gallery but she’s a student and she’s an alcoholic, and in the book Andrea didn’t have sex with the handsome writer, she just make out a little at the party hosted by Christian’s parents. Banyak lagi la yang tak same. The only thing that is very similar between the movie and the book is the NAME of the character, but still, how the character looks is also different, like Nigel is not a short and bold gay friend like in the movie, he’s a tall skinny gay man with black hair. And Emily is not British and always sarcastic like in the movie( I really adore her character in that movie) but she’s a stylish assistant who are talkative and always helps Andy’s although they disagrees a lot because in this book Emily always defending Miranda. Even Miranda’s character is different. She’s not blond with short bobsy style hair but in the book Miranda is very skinny, with long hair and she’s British...
So I’ve made my point that both the books and the movie have A LOT of different but still I enjoy the book. But I have to say that I love the movie better. Some people might not agree with me but I think the way they change the storyline, change the character and the choice of actors really made that movie much much better then the original novel. Anyway as for the ending of the story, although it’s totally different from the movie, but still it’s a sweet ending and a great way to end the novel.

i guess they shop for actors 1st kalau nak buat good movie, than they developed the character around the actors, that's why sumtimes only character's name stays but not the rupa paras.. :).. me and my opinion
salam... read the book too, tapi sampai page 20 je gitu kot, rasa mcm tak best, heheh. agak tak faham la dulu mcm mana boleh jadi movie. tapi movie nya quite enjoyable la jugak :)
Tu la, selalunye buku lagi best dari movie tapi devil weras prada ni terbalik plak, movie plak lagi best. Agaknye betol la, diorang carik actors best2 dulu baru developed the character and in this case, diorang just ambik the general idea of the story..not the actual story...
PS I love U dh baca? apakah komen anda? adakah hanya aku sorg yg baca dan nangis... huhuhuuu
